The recognition occurred through an annual awards ceremony held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, hosted by Choctaw Nation Small Business Development, a department to promote business growth throughout the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The award recognizes a business in each of the Nation’s twelve districts who characterized the heritage of giving, community, and pride as tribal members.

“When I moved to Oklahoma, I wanted to give back to the Tribe, not take from it.” said Sash Johnson, founder of Choctaw Websites. “This is the home of my parents, but I was separated from the Choctaw all of my life, and it was when I moved home here that I felt at home. I was determined, when I came here, along with my husband Steve, to give back and help grow the economy in the way I know how for the Choctaw Nation.”

Choctaw Websites was founded in 2021 by Sash Johnson and Steve Johnson, who have worked together as a marketing team since 2012 when they founded Too Much Tina, a marketing company in San Diego, CA. They worked for clients such as Society of American Indian Dentists, Monogram Foods, Indian Motorcycles, and Women Riders Now. After spending seven years traveling across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, they bought property in the Choctaw Nation and launched Choctaw Websites.

Sash Johnson traces her Choctaw lineage through the Hampton family who settled in “Indian Territory” during the 1800s. Her mother and father were both born in Oklahoma. Their families migrated west during the Dust Bowl years, and like many Oklahomans during that time, settled in California. After long wanting to live in the home of her ancestors, Sash and her husband did just that in 2020.

Today, Choctaw Websites has serves clients all over the Choctaw Nation and throughout the United States.
